Character animation and motion graphics

Characters,type and everythingin between

I design and animate characters, plus the type, titles, maps and charts that hold a video together. Whether it's a mascot or the hundred little moments in between.

A good character does a lot of heavy lifting. People remember a face long after they've forgotten the dot points, and a character can walk into situations that would be awkward, expensive or impossible to film.

Motion graphics are the other half: kinetic type, titles, data and maps. I've animated everything from Santa nailing a beam routine for NBC Olympics to all 32 NFL teams racing go-karts for Sunday Night Football. Every bit of it follows the classic rules of animation, so it moves with real weight and timing instead of just sliding around.

What you get

  • Character designs you sign off before any animation
  • Characters with real weight, timing and personality
  • Kinetic type, titles, maps and data animation
  • Custom design, or stock graphics reworked to fit
  • Every format you need for web, social and screens
  • Two rounds of changes at every stage

Who it's for

  • Brands that want a mascot or character
  • Explainers and campaigns that need a cast
  • Games, apps and entertainment
  • Anyone with data or a map that needs to make sense

What it costs

Every project is a fixed fee, never hourly. Character and motion work is quoted per project, because a five-second logo sting and a full cast of characters are very different jobs. Tell me what you need and I'll come back with a number within two working days.

Character and motion questions

Yes. I'll sketch a few directions, you pick one, and I refine it until it feels like yours. Then it can turn up anywhere your brand does: videos, social, screens at events.

Yes. Send me what you've got, whether it's an illustration, a mascot or a logo, and I'll work out how it moves. If it needs a few tweaks to animate well, I'll show you before I change anything.

All the time. Kinetic type, titles, maps and data animation are a big part of what I make. If you've got numbers or a plan that people need to understand, that's my kind of job.

Character animation brings people, creatures and mascots to life. Motion graphics is animated design: type, shapes, data and titles. Most projects use a bit of both.
