SDSU · Stadium and campus

Two years of content counting down to a new stadium.

San Diego State University, via STN Digital

San Diego State built a new home stadium, now Snapdragon Stadium, and wanted fans along for the whole ride. STN Digital brought CrispFX in to make the content from groundbreaking to opening day.

The brief

Keep the hype building for two years, on a construction site where the progress changes every month.

The approach

Sizzles cut from construction photos, drone footage and timelapse marked each milestone. "By the numbers" story series turned capacity, jobs and economic impact into quick stat slides. Animated calendar pages counted down to Opening Day on 3 September. In between came game day motion graphics, a March Madness loop and a map tracing the team to Indianapolis.

For SDSU's strategic communications team I also made a campus housing tour that moves like an interactive scroll, with swipe transitions between photos, 3D tours and footage, ending on "Imagine Yourself Here". For the 125th anniversary campaign came new intro and outro animations with SDSU's new primary logo.

What was delivered

  • Construction and launch sizzles, under 30 seconds
  • Instagram Story series, 9:16
  • Countdown, map and game day motion graphics
  • Square, 4:5 and 9:16 versions throughout
  • Scrolling campus housing sizzle, 1:1, 9:16 and 16:9
  • 125th anniversary intro and outro logo animations
