Data explainer

Leukaemia Foundation · Blood cancer in numbers

Big, hard numbers about blood cancer, made clear and human.

Leukaemia Foundation, via KOJO

Around 15,000 Australians are told "you have blood cancer" every year. The Leukaemia Foundation needed that story told in numbers people could actually take in, and KOJO brought CrispFX in to design, storyboard and animate it.

The brief

A lot of data, a serious subject and an audience that includes patients and families. It had to inform without overwhelming anyone.

The approach

Each idea gets its own simple visual. Floating cells name the different blood cancers. A map of Australia fills state by state. A timeline grows from 1975 to 2000 and beyond. Bold colour and steady pacing keep it calm, so the numbers land without feeling cold.

What was delivered
