Challenges
Expressing Wellbeing Inclusively: Ensuring the animation's messaging and visuals resonated with a diverse audience, avoiding stereotypes and showcasing various social and individual experiences.
Community Focus: Creating a video that felt connected to the community, even though it would primarily live on the website. This involved balancing PHSA's branding with a broader sense of community belonging.
Branding Harmony: Maintaining creative freedom while ensuring the video's style and colors aligned with the overall branding of the SA Government.
Engaging Character Animation: Utilizing character animation to create relatable and engaging visuals, while being mindful of the time-consuming nature of this animation style.
Icon Versatility: Designing five icons that effectively represented the "5 Ways to Wellbeing" and could be used seamlessly across multiple resources, both within and outside the animation.
Approach
Design
Visual Exploration through Style Frames: We then presented captivating style frames to the client, offering a visual glimpse into the animation's potential aesthetic and tone.
Crafting the Narrative: Storyboards: With the style approved, we developed detailed storyboards, outlining the animation's narrative flow, shot compositions, and character interactions.
Character Development and Rigging: We designed relatable and expressive characters, carefully rigging them for dynamic animation that would embody the essence of each wellbeing element.
Constructing 3D Environments: We built immersive 3D environments using 2D assets, so that we could seamlessly transition between scenes and visually reinforce the interconnectedness of the "5 Ways to Wellbeing."
Animation
Bringing the Story to Life: Animating scenes depicting various activities such as yoga, gardening, playing music, and cooking, ensured we covered a variety of activities that the demographic could relate to.
Collaborative Refinement: We actively sought and incorporated client feedback throughout the animation process, ensuring the final product aligned perfectly with their vision.
